Daniel Coulton

Daniel from Engadine, New South Wales in Australia will be climbing the 7 day TK Rongai Route from 7th – 13th July 2013, for Alzheimer’s Australia Research Fund. The proceeds from Daniel’s campaign will be used for a good cause – research into a cure for Dementia/Alzheimers.

Hi Guys,

I’m raising money for research into a cure for Dementia/Alzheimers. on the 9th of July this year I will be attempting to summit Africa’s highest mountain and the world’s highest free standing mountain mount Kilimanjaro. I’m doing this because I have seen firsthand the impacts that this disease has not only on the patient but on all of their friends and family. I have watched powerless as my grandmother once the Dux of her school and the kindest people I knew, declines to a point where she no longer recognises her husband of nearly 60 years. The heartbreak that this has brought is devastating. So I suppose my efforts are not all altruistic, I’m raising money to find a cure so that there’s no chance I will have to go through this again, either with my own parents or heaven forbid that my children will have to go through it with me. I have set myself the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in July, the climb will take seven days up the Rongai route. My hope is that by doing this I cannot only raise some cash for a much-deserved cause but also raise awareness of what is truly the widespread impact of this disease that is affecting more and more people every day.

Thanking everyone for your help.
